Draft, not yet legally reviewed. Nota is built so that your voice and your text stay on your Mac unless you choose otherwise.

No account

Nota has no sign-up and no login. The app works without giving us an email, a name or any identifier. If you buy Pro, the purchase is handled by Polar, our payment provider, and the app only checks your license key.

Local processing by default

With a local model (Whisper or Parakeet), audio is recorded and transcribed on this Mac. Nothing is uploaded, and dictation works with no internet connection.

Your own keys

Cloud models are optional. If you add a key for a provider such as OpenAI, Groq, Deepgram, ElevenLabs or Google Gemini, the key is stored in your macOS Keychain. We never see it and it is never sent to us.

What leaves your Mac, and when

• Audio and text to a cloud provider: only when you pick a cloud model or cloud enhancement. It goes straight from your Mac to that provider, under their terms, using your key.
• License check: for Pro, the license key and an activation ID go to Polar to activate and validate it.
• Update check: the app asks our update feed if a new version exists. The request carries the app version, not your data.
• Model downloads: when you download a local model, the file is fetched from its host.

Nothing else. No recordings, transcripts, dictionary entries or history are sent to Bielfor.

What stays on your Mac

History, recordings you choose to keep, your dictionary, modes and settings are stored locally in the app's folder. Delete them in the app at any time, or remove the app to remove them all.

This website

saynota.com uses Umami for anonymous page counts. No cookies, nothing stored on your device, Do Not Track is honoured. The “Say something” demo reads your microphone level inside the browser tab only; no sound is recorded or sent.
